Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if I have an emergency and your office is closed?

A: If you are a patient of record and have a dental emergency at a time that our practice is closed, please call our office number (613-392-2563) and you will be given instructions on how to reach our Dentist on call.

Q: When should my child first visit the Dentist?

A: The Ontario Dental Association recommends that children visit a dental professional by their first birthday or when their first teeth appear. West End Dental Centre offers a complimentary first dental check up for your baby. A dental professional will check for signs of early childhood tooth decay.

Q: My child has had an accident and his/her tooth has been entirely knocked out. What do I do?

A: Please contact the office immediately and our office staff will help you determine the safest and most appropriate plan of action. As for the knocked out tooth, rinse it gently in warm water (do not scrub) and either wrap it in a clean, damp paper towel or place it temporarily in a glass of milk.

Q: What are my options for missing teeth?

A: Options for replacing missing teeth are dental implants, fixed bridges and removable dentures. Your dentist will sit down with you and discuss all your options so you are able to make an informed decision on which replacement option is best for you.

Q: How often should I have a dental exam and cleaning?

A: You should have your teeth checked and cleaned at least twice a year, though your dentist or dental hygienist may recommend more frequent visits.

Regular dental exams and cleaning visits are essential in preventing dental problems and maintaining the health of your teeth and gums. At these visits, your teeth are cleaned and checked for cavities. Additionally, there are many other things that are checked and monitored to help detect, prevent, and maintain your dental health.
